Sod-cutting ceremony Cape Coast drinking water plant

Ghana Water Company Ltd. awarded a contract to Royal Haskoning to design and supervise as consultant the construction of a new plant and networks for the production and distribution of drinking water in the area of Cape Coast (300 km west of Accra) in Ghana.

The construction of the plant has started with a so-called sod-cutting ceremony on 13 February 2006 in the presence of the Minister of Water Resources and Works.
Speeches were made by the Minister, Ghana Water Company Ltd., the consultant and the contractor. The sod-cutting was very much welcomed by the population of Cape Coast and celebrated with dance and music.
 
Construction of the plant and the network is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ballast Nedam will be the contractor for execution of the works.
