Royal Haskoning employees in Enschede developed lessons for ethnic minority women on the theory of cycling for the Zevenaar multicultural interests trust. The women gain a lot of independence as soon as they can ride a bike, and the trust thinks it’s also very important that they learn about the theory.
It was decided to use primarily photographs as teaching material because by no means all the women speak Dutch. However, all the illustrations also have text so that the course contributes to the development of the women’s language skills. The last lesson is about practice routes, which also pass social locations. When the course material is ready the idea is to start using it in Enschede and perhaps elsewhere too.
