Sponsoring activities in the UK:

Institution of Civil Engineers (UK):
Royal Haskoning is a key sponsor of the ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) campaign which aims to ‘raise the profile of civil engineering to young people’. The construction industry more widely, and in particular the profession of civil engineering has suffered a severe shortfall in the number of employees needed. Not enough young people are choosing civil engineering as a career. With projects like the Olympics approaching this shortfall is likely to increase and the lack of trained staff to be felt more sharply than ever. To help combat this the ICE has set up an initiative to enthuse young people about Civil engineering.

Royal Haskoning has a number of ‘Civil Engineering’ Ambassadors who take part in events at schools. The events range widely and include attending career days with our bridge building exercise where students have to construct the abutments of a bridge to time, and budget using Lego. We also attend careers fairs and annual events like the River Cam event where students construct a bridge from rolled Perspex, piping and card which sits over the River Cam in Cambridge.
