Royal Haskoning purchases First Marine International

03/03/2008

We are delighted to announce the recent acquisition of First Marine International. With this purchase Royal Haskoning wants to develop and expand its services towards the upper end of the supply chain and strengthens the leading position within the maritime sector.

A successful business in its own right, First Marine International has worked alongside Royal Haskoning on numerous projects over the past ten years and is very pleased to be joining the Royal Haskoning Group. First Marine International is an independent specialist consultancy providing high level expert advice within the shipbuilding and ship repair sectors. The company currently has a team of twelve highly qualified and experienced consultants working on projects around the world including the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.

First Marine International is currently working on a range of significant projects including master planning for four major new shipyards, a market study to identify potential future regional ship repair volumes, performance benchmarking and improvement advice for a group of commercial yards, and provision of strategic advice on supplier selection for a naval procurement programme.

First Marine International’s current Managing Director, John Craggs, will continue to head up the team. This development will provide First Marine International with the financial strength and strategic vision to recruit and train more staff and to significantly develop and expand the range and volume of services to clients.

Royal Haskoning is one of the world’s leading consultants within the maritime sector and is active in delivering design, procurement and construction supervision services for shipyard infrastructure. The acquisition of First Marine International will bring new expertise to Royal Haskoning’s already comprehensive service portfolio and will allow Royal Haskoning to provide high level expert advice within the shipbuilding and ship repair sectors. This advice includes marine industry studies, market studies, shipyard concept layout development and master planning, technology and performance benchmarking, and development, implementation and management of shipyard performance improvement programmes.
