On Friday 26 September Henk Pauw, General Manager of Aluchemie, and Leo Visser, member of the Royal Haskoning Board of Management, will sign an agreement for the next five years. This will confirm the collaboration that already exists between the two organizations.
Aluchemie has projects planned for the next few years to which Royal Haskoning will lend its support. In the past Aluchemie has had good experiences with the organization in such things as the overhaul of its furnaces. The modernization and expansion of the plant in Botlek is therefore in safe hands. A team from Royal Haskoning has had a project office on site at Botlek since June and is involved in various projects from the planning phase to the end result. Experts from several disciplines are working together on design, logistical processes, project management and product development.
Aluchemie Aluminium & Chemie Rotterdam B.V. (Aluchemie) was set up in 1964 and is a joint venture between Rio Tinto Alcan and Norsk Hydro. The company, which employs around 400 people, produces carbon anodes for the aluminium industry. In 2007 it received a substantial financial injection for the expansion and modernization of the plant at Oude Maasweg 80, Botlek. The specifications have been set out in a master plan, and work has already started on the first phase.
