Royal Haskoning is pleased to announce that it is one of two companies to be sponsoring the World Conker Championships, to be held in Ashton, Peterborough on 14 October 2007.
The event fits with our ethos of encouraging harmonious interaction between human activities and the environment. It is also in line with our company objective to find and use sustainable and environmentally-friendly solutions for our clients.BR>
Henry Rowe, the director of Royal Haskoning UK said: “The World Conker Championships is a tremendous event which brings together people of all ages to have fun using a natural sustainable resource. Part of our reason for sponsoring the event this year is to illustrate the links between climate change, the activities of man and a simple activity like playing conkers. We are looking forward to the event, and I’m sure that everyone concerned will have a great time and a day to remember in the beautiful surroundings of Ashton."
The Institution of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) is the second sponsor, who is seeking to dispel the myths surrounding health and safety. Their participation in the event hopes to challenge the view that health and safety is not about stopping people have fun but to facilitate fun in a safe way. As president Lisa Fowler comments: “Health and Safety is often used as an excuse not to do something, but managed properly, it’s actually the key to ensuring activities go ahead, in as safe a manner as possible."
"The company shall be taking the opportunity to raise awareness about our environmental work and will also be entering three teams, with staff representing the UK, the Netherlands and the rest of the World. The event takes place in close proximity to our UK headquarters in Peterborough and is set to be a fun family day out for many of our employees.
