VOPAK Terminal Vlissingen owns and operates at Vlissingen (Flushing) one of the largest independent gas terminals for LPG and chemical gases in Europe.

For this project, Royal Haskoning has executed a Basic Design. This design was based on a capacity extension by installing four new aboveground spherical storage tanks, together with the required infrastructure and auxiliary equipment (such as pumps, loading arm, cooling units, controls, etc.).

As a result of discussions with the authorities Client has decided that a previous concept is no longer feasible and a new design based on the installation of two new underground bullet tanks shall be prepared. The new location and new tank design will have consequences on the design of the infrastructure and auxiliary equipment. Client requested Royal Haskoning to update the previously prepared Basic Design and Cost Estimate to properly reflect the new design, bearing in mind the additional expansion of two additional tanks in the future. This modification will specifically have an effect on the design of the instrumentation and electrical infrastructure.
