A business park is planned where the Groningen landscape borders the village of Bedum. A new bridge over the Boterdiep will open up the business area and be a landmark at the southern entrance to the village: the first structure that is visible from a distance.

The transition from a rural environment to the village is abrupt and is emphasized in the asymmetric design. The lift structure consists of a modern single column on one side of the bridge. The forked balance structure encloses the head of the balance column on two sides and the single arm stretches diagonally away over the bridge deck. The column rises high from the landscape and functions as an independent element of it. This will become the identification point of the link between the village and the business park. When the bridge opens it will welcome visitors from the other side of the Boterdiep with open arms.
