With over 90.000 inhabitants, the municipality of Venlo is one of the largest municipalities in The Netherlands. Traffic and mobility indissolubly belong to the functioning of the city of Venlo. Therefore, formulating policies in regard to traffic and transport, accessibility, livability and mobility are essential.
In close cohesion with spatial development, Royal Haskoning was asked to establish a traffic policy. This should result in a decision for accessibility alongside livability, for strongly or otherwise organized public transport, for better utilization of existing connections and infrastructure, for the improvement of traffic safety, and for the stimulation of bicycle usage and a parking policy grafted upon different parts of the city. In short, a policy was produced which does justice to the identity of the municipality of Venlo. The policy plan was further elaborated with a policy plan for bicycle traffic, parking and traffic safety.
The policy plans have been formed into concrete action plans and support for the plans was created within the municipality. As a result we work from separate ideas and visions to a general basis in an interactive way.
