A GRP (municipal sewerage plan) is a strategic document illustrating the stance and policy of different municipalities on the collection and transportation of wastewater. It also contains the main approaches required to reach preferred goals. A GRP should include:
• Description and testing of current situation
• Conclusions from the basic sewerage plan including preferred infrastructural measures in order to limit waste exposal and annoyance or damage resulting from excess water
• Description of management and maintenance
• Expense coverage plan
Aside from conventional measures such as the enlargement of storerooms and transport capacity, infrastructural measures increasingly consist of integral solutions, within as well as outside of the sewerage chain. Royal Haskoning set up and later actualized a significant amount of GRP’s, as for the municipalities of Eindhoven, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Nijmegen, Wageningen and Kerkrade. For the government of Kerkrade, Royal Haskoning set up a GRP in a very limited timeframe (3 weeks). Within this timeframe, Royal Haskoning set up a GRP including financial back-up, management reporting and short, middle and long term planning.
