The Shipping and Transport College in Rotterdam is the leading knowledge centre for maritime matters in the world. Four Rotterdam educational institutes are going to combine their courses in shipping, harbour and transport education in one building.

The building will comprise hundreds of places for theory and practice such as computer rooms, practical rooms, workstations, teaching rooms, auditoriums and a versatile fleet of simulators. In addition to the provision of education, there is also space for offices, a conference centre, a restaurant, a canteen, a café and a sport and fitness centre.
It is a vertical school with fourteen storeys with the facilities being linked not by a corridor but by escalators. The escalators, for students, staff and visitors, guarantee a rapid connection between all the points of the building. In addition to the usual technical buildings facilities, such as climate control, lighting, data, security systems, sanitary installations, lifts etc., the building will have a number of energy-saving systems such as heat recovery from the waste air with a heat pump system. The building also has a sprinkler system and various wall washing installations. The Shipping and Transport College is a complex building with an aesthetically integrated installation design.
