Newly Built Hospital for the Spaarne Hospitals in North Holland

In the city of Haarlem, in the Floriande quarter, located directly next to bus lanes and highways, a new building has been completed for the Spaarne Hospitals.
The building consists of 5 separate blocks of at most 5 stories high and has a capacity of 455 beds.
The base is constructed from a prefab concrete piled foundation with concrete beams.
The ground floor consists of insulated hollow core slabs.
The concrete frame has for the most part been constructed from pre-cast beams and slabs. This accelerated the construction time considerably and enhanced the esthetical and structural quality of the entire building and especially of the façade. As a result of the close cooperation within the building team, the maximum efficiency has been achieved between the joists and floor thickness (Structural Engineering and Installation Techniques).

To further shorten the construction period the factory-made facade elements have been delivered on site complete with the window frames and windows in place. As a direct result the structure has been wind and waterproof at an early stage in the building process. Facilitating a sooner start of the interior building..
One of the main features of the complex are the walkways between the different building sections. The slender steel structures combined with big glazing panels provides the walkways with a fully transparent look and feel.
