Royal Haskoning took care of the entire new build of the Krimpenerwaard polder pumping-station.

The new Krimpenerwaard polder pumping-station has been built in the Lek dyke near Bergambacht.
This large and complex polder pumping-station is essentially made up of:

• Two drainage units with vertical Archimedes screws with a raising height of 4 m and a flow rate of 200 m3/min;
• Two high-pressure pipes (1400 mm) through the primary dyke;
• Vacuum plant;
• Outflow head.

In order to realize the project for the Dienst Landelijk Gebied Regio West Royal Haskoning performed the following services:

• Research
• Preliminary design
• Final design (civil and electro-mechanical)
• Architecture
• Permitting
• Specifications
• Tendering and allocation
• Supervision during the building
• Completion

The unusual thing about this project is that it was all done under architect’s supervision. The result is a beautifully designed structure in a natural landscape that performs a technical function superbly well.
