The Water and Environment Department of Chuchawal-De Weger, together with the parent company Royal Haskoning from the Netherlands, was assigned to study the existing water supply system and find water resources at Phuket Island as a supply for anticipated future demand.

The project which was developed with financial support from the Program for Economic Cooperation Projects (PESP) of the Netherlands, East Water PLC, aims to improve the water supply situation at Phuket in order to provide sufficient water for the local communities and tourist centers. The scope of work includes data collection, a water loss detection survey, development of a water loss reduction program, design of an additional water resources system, transmission network and water treatment, financial study and implementation strategy.
