Source-separating sanitation systems
Throughout the EU a large number of demonstration projects with source-separating sanitation systems have been realized in the past 15 years. In order to assess the potential of these systems for wide-scale application it is important to learn from these practical experiences. This research in Water Science & Technology (2007-5) evaluates two systems with local grey water treatment in the Netherlands and three sites with urine separation in Sweden.

Opportunities for reuse of the effluent
As the effluent standards for municipal wastewater treatment plants are getting stricter, the Waterboards are investing more in technologies for wastewater treatment. These new technologies can drastically enhance the effluent quality, bringing new opportunities and possibilities for reuse of the effluent.
