2011 Lakeside EfW plant has won two categories in the inaugural Renewable Energy Infrastructure Awards
Lakeside EfW (Energy from Waste) plant has won two categories in the inaugural Renewable Energy Infrastructure Awards. The winners were announced at last week at Kensington’s prestigious Royal Garden Hotel in London. Energy minister Charles Hendry presented the awards to a packed house.

NIJMEGEN'S ‘ROOM FOR THE RIVER WAAL’ WINS PRESTIGIOUS WATERFRONT CENTER HONOR AWARD
The Dutch ‘Room for the Waal,’ programme received the Waterfront Center Award 2011 presented every year by the Waterfront Center in New York on 29 October. A component part of 'Room for the River', the programme combines flood safety with construction of a riverside park in central Nijmegen. The jury praises the way residents are involved, the innovative balance between flood protection and local development, and the sharing of knowledge with riverside towns in neighbouring countries. Nijmegen City Council set up the intervention programme with support from consultant engineers Royal Haskoning.

Exposure scoops further awards
Exposure has won the prestigious Steel Design Award and Galvanizing Award in London. The prize is awarded by the British Constructional Steelwork Association. In May 2011, Exposure won the Benelux trofee voor het Thermisch Verzinken 2011 (Benelux award for hot dip galvanising 2011) in the category Distinctive Steel Modules and Sculptures.

A price for Innovation has been recently awarded to Haskoning France and Royal Haskoning by Chamber of Commerce of Lille in the field of water management.
The "methane from water" project performed by Royal Haskoning together with Vitens, our client, had been presented by Haskoning France at the exhibition organized by CCI Lille in Saint Omer - France to a public and industrial audience on June 14th focusing on Royal Haskoning values for sustainability. Royal Haskoning is a progressive company when it comes to sustainability and therefore we received this price with justifiable pride.

New Orleans team rewarded with a US Army Corps of Engineer's 'Commander's Coin'
This week five Royal Haskoning staff members, Maartje Wise, Ray Devlin, Ries Kluskens, Maarten Kluyver and Laurens van der Burgt received a US Army Corps of Engineer's 'Commander's Coin' from Colonel Sinkler. This for their expertise, team spirit and dedication while supporting Task Force Hope and the Hurricane Protection Office with their mission to complete the Hurricane and Storm Risk Damage & Reduction System by June 1, 2011.

Royal Haskoning receives Queen’s Award for Enterprise
Haskoning UK Ltd - the UK arm of Royal Haskoning – was awarded the Queen‘s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2011. This award is presented to companies demonstrating outstanding achievement in this arena in the United Kingdom.

Royal Haskoning wins second prize Innovation contest RijnWaalpad
Royal Haskoning won the second prize in the category “professionals” of the RijnWaalpad Innovation contest. The initiator of the RijnWaalpad, the regional administration Arnhem Nijmegen, organized the Innovation contest, together with the cyclists association Fietsersbond, in order to raise creative and innovative ideas, with which the usage of the RijnWaalpad (and other High Speed Bicycle Routes) can be stimulated.

Royal Haskoning and Deltares win the 2011 Infrastructure Innovation prize
The Innovation Award of 2011 goes this year to Royal Haskoning and Deltares. The award for Innovative work was given out on Tuesday evening January 11th, during the second annual infrastructure exhibition InfraTech 2011. Together this team developed the “Stablised Peat” innovation. From the 35 submitted entries, this innovation was chosen as the most innovative technique. A professional jury, under the guidance of Bouwend Nederland, assessed and judged all submitted entries. 

First Traianus medal for Jan Bout
During the New Year's Reception Jan Bout received the first Traianus medal from deputy mayor Jan van der Meer of Nijmegen. Jan was presented with the Medal for his achievements for the City of Nijmegen.

Green Pearl Award for "Energy teams in the neighbourhood"
The project "Energy teams in the neighbourhood" of the municipalities Sittard-Geleen, Stein and Royal Haskoning has won the Green Pearl Award on 9th December. This award aims to increase the visibility of sustainable projects & solutions.

Three Cobouw Awards

30 November 2010: was a very successful evening for Royal Haskoning. During the Cobouw Awards gala diner at Grand Hotel “Huis ter Duin” (Noordwijk) two Awards were handed out to Royal Haskoning. Royal Haskoning won an Award for “Greatest Innovator” (Royal Haskoning Architects, subcategory architects bureau) and another for “Best client”, category engineers and category architects.

Process engineer Royal Haskoning wins NAP competition
There are many surfaces, such as pipelines and storage tanks, in the process industry that could deliver greater added value, is the view of process engineer Serdar Erdag of Royal Haskoning. On 18 November he was awarded the main prize in a competition held by the Platform van de Nederlandse procesindustrie (NAP, platform for the Dutch processing industry) for his work in this area.
NAP launched the competition at the end of 2009 as part of its 50-year jubilee celebrations, the aim of which was to: ‘Find the person who can devise the most innovative technical concept for reducing the carbon footprint of the processing industry.’

Juliana bridge wins European Concrete Award

On Thursday 18 November the Juliana bridge, designed by Royal Haskoning Architects, won yet another prize. After being awarded the Dutch Concrete Award 2009, the Juliana Bridge has now also won the European Concrete Award 2010. The design consists of two separate decks for all traffic and lies just across from the famous Dutch heritage village Zaanse Schans. The province of North-Holland is our client, Oranjewoud did the structural design and BAM Civiel Northwest was the contractor. 

Royal Haskoning Vietnam awards Construction Quality Gold Cup 2010
On November 13, 2010 Royal Haskoning Vietnam was awarded the Vietnam Construction Quality Gold Cup for the Sabeco plant in Cu Chi. Sixty five outstanding construction projects, selected from 300 candidates, were awarded the 2010 Construction Quality Gold Cup in a ceremony in Hanoi. The winners are operating in the fields of civil construction, industry, transport, irrigation, hydroelectricity and technical infrastructure. Most of their projects have already been completed and put into operation between 2000 and July, 2010. This event aims to promote high-quality construction and buildings in the construction sector.

Royal Haskoning wins Oeuvre Prize
The winners of the Scenter Annual Reports Survey were announced at 3 November at Sparrendaal Park. The prize was awarded for the 16th time. The survey assesses the policy transparency of 100 companies in the Netherlands. Consultant engineer Royal Haskoning scored an average of 8.6 for its annual reports over the past five years, making it the most transparent. Thus it carries off the oeuvre prize ‐ a general award for achievements over a longer period of time.

Business Award 2009 for Chuchawal Royal Haskoning
In October Chuchawal Royal Haskoning was awarded the Netherlands - Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Belgium/Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Business Award 2009 in the category Best Multinational Company.
Chuchawal Royal Haskoning was selected based on the following criteria: Innovation; Corporate Social Responsibility; Dedication to Training and HR Development; Promotion of Thai-Benelux relations; Overall Business Achievement.

Vitens and Royal Haskoning win the IWA Innovation Award for best design
Barcelona 10th of May. Vitens en Royal Haskoning received the European Innovation Award from the International Water Association (IWA) in the category Design on Monday 10 May. A prestigious prize which gives the ‘sustainable drinking water production: recovery and use of water-based methane’ project the attention it deserves. With this project drinking water production company Vitens demonstrates that it is serious about sustainable operations of its plants and its care for the environment. And this does not affect the quality of the drinking water.

2009 Juliana bridge wins Concrete Prize 2009 - architecture Royal Haskoning
The Juliana Bridge Zaandam received the Betonprijs 2009 (Concrete Prize) in the category Bridges & Fly-overs. Architect Joris Smits of Royal Haskoning is responsible for the design of the bridge. Client: Province of Noord-Holland, the Netherlands

Structural Engineering Prize for Royal Haskoning
Royal Haskoning won the Structural Engineering Prize for its entries for the Beton Prize (Concrete Prize) 2009. The prize is for the structural engineering designs for a number of the entries. The jury expressed its appreciation for the entries Royal Haskoning has been involved with as structural engineers.

Chuchawal Royal Haskoning wins Best Multinational Company Award 2009
Chuchawal Royal Haskoning was awarded the Netherlands – Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Belgium/Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Business Award 2009 in the category Best Multinational Company.

Royal Haskoning on shortlist best employer for working parents
Monday 5 October the Dutch Minister of Youth & Familiy has received a shortlist with the 77 best employers for working parents. Royal Haskoning can be found on this list. 

Red Apple included in 2009 Best Tall Buildings Awards Book
The “Red Apple” building at the top of the Wijnhaven Island in Rotterdam has been included in the Best Tall Buildings Awards Book from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) 2009. Corsmit, a company of Royal Haskoning, is responsible for the structural design. 

Royal Haskoning scores well in Intermediair Image benchmark 2009
Recently, the well-known Dutch Intermediair Image Benchmark 2009 was held, with a special focus on the engineering branche. Royal Haskoning scored well among the higher educated respondents with the best overall image (54% of the respondents) as an employer.

Royal Haskoning Dordtse Engineering nominee for the fastest growing business Award The Gazelle
Royal Haskoning Dordtse Engineering has been nominated for the Gazelle Award. The Gazelle Award is presented annually by the Financieele Dagblad (national Financial Newspaper) for the fastest growing business for 2006-2008.

Royal Haskoning wins 4th prize in Scenter annual reports competition
This competition focusses on transparancy of strategies and policies of Dutch organisations as presented in their annual report.
This year 91 organisations (a lot of them quoted on the stock exchange) entered this competition. This year we received a certificate of transparancy for our Financial Annual Report 2008 and achieved a shared 4th place.

Royal Haskoning commended at ACE Engineering Excellence Awards 2009 
The awards showcased consultancy and engineering firms who had demonstrated a high degree of achievement, value and engineering excellence over the last 12 months.
Royal Haskoning, with the Lakeside Energy from Waste Plant received a commendation in the Building Structures (medium firm) category. 

Royal Haskoning Project wins ICE Award
Royal Haskoning, together with Newcastle University, Sustainability North East and the Environment Agency, has been presented with a special ICE ‘Robert Stevenson Award’ for Sustainability. The award was awarded in recognition of the engineering work associated with the North East Climate Change Adaptation Study. The study is the first of its kind in the UK and has raised the profile of adaptation across the region. It has also highlighted the critical role that civil engineers will have in developing and delivering innovative solutions to ensure that the region remains resilient to the forecast of climate change.

Royal Haskoning’s ‘Brighten New Brighton’ campaign scoops prize at Property Marketing Awards
The Liverpool student design competition was amongst hundreds of other entrants from in-house and agency side marketing teams, and beat off stiff opposition in the ‘Campaign under £10k’ category. Brighten New Brighton was praised by judges for the creative way in which it engaged with the target audience.

Selly Oak Bypass Phase 1A wins second award
On 8th April Craig Francis and Alastair Clay joined Birse Civils at the presentation ceremony held at Gibson Hall in London to receive an award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme for their efforts on the Selly Oak Phase 1A Highway Improvement Scheme. Haskoning UK and Birse Civils also received a second award for their efforts on the Weston Super Mare Project.

Ecobarrier wins contest Schiphol airport
The winner of the contest "create a barrier of silence" from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is the Ecobarrier submitted by Toine van Goethem.
Van Goethem asked Royal haskoning to help him with te design of his idea. The simplicity and its innovative and dynamic character are the main reason for winning the contest. But also the integration of several sustainable features, including alge cultivation and how it fits into the landscape made the Ecobarrier win.

Selly Oak Bypass Team wins award
The Selly Oak Bypass Phase 1A Highway Scheme, project managed by the Manchester design team of the Denis Wilson Business Group and constructed by Birse Civils Ltd was rewarded with a Highway Contractor Merit Award by Birmingham City Council.

2008 Jan Bout winner Influencer of the Year Award
31 October 2008 – Jan Bout, Chairman of Royal Haskoning’s Board of Management, was presented with the Influencer of the Year Award yesterday. This award is given to pioneers in the building industry. He was commended for his innovative activities in the building industry and for his promotional efforts in gender diversity. 

Jan Bout is delighted with the award. ‘The nomination took me completely by surprise. Colleagues in the building industry submitted candidates and made a choice from the nominees. They are among the best managers there are. I regard it as a great honour to have been awarded this prize.’

Het Strijkijzer wins Emporis Skyscraper Award
Het Strijkijzer in The Hague, constructed by Corsmit Raadgevend Ingenieursbureau BV, is the 2007 recipient of the annual Emporis Skyscraper Award. The building was chosen by the jury for its elegant reinterpretation of classic high-rise architecture, its contextual approach to a limited site, and its efficient program for accommodating new entrants to the housing market.

Royal Haskoning among top 100 companies
Staff at an international firm of consulting engineers are officially working for one of the best companies in the country. Royal Haskoning was listed as being among the top 100 UK companies, for the second year running, as voted for by its employees. The same league table placed the company 24th for what it does to protect the environment.

2007 Royal Haskoning is FD Gazelle 2007
Royal Haskoning is one of the winners of the 'FD Gazelle Award 2007', due to the large increase in sales the past three years.

Honourable mention
The result of the 2005 European Care Ideas Competition was announced during the Netherlands Board for Healthcare Institutions (CBZ) Annual Convention on 25 September. The design team from EGM Architecten, BM Managers van het Bouwproces, part of Royal Haskoning, and Lausanne Health & Hospitality Group (LH2) received an honourable mention for their ZorgeNLoos Living vision.

‘Eye of Dubai’ – winning concept Royal Haskoning
The consortium “Out and About in Palm Deira”, which is made up of Royal Haskoning (as architects/urban planners), MVA consultancy (transport consultants), Systra (rail consultants) and Sogreah (maritime consultants), has won the design competition for an integrated transport master plan for Palm Deira in Dubai. The competition was organised jointly by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and developer Nakheel.

Royal Haskoning wins ‘Excellence in Employer Engagement’ Award
Royal Haskoning is delighted to have been awarded the Work with Schools Medium sized Business Award 2007 in recognition, of its commitment to local schools in providing students with a broader understanding of the career opportunities available in Civil engineering.

Royal Haskoning – Sunday Times Best 100 Company, as voted by staff

Our director of Coastal & Rivers (UK), Steve Magenis, has been named Business Person of the Year by Peterborough Evening Telegraph at their annual Business Awards

Prestigious prize for companies that do business in both Great Britain and the Netherlands (Initiative of the Netherlands British Chamber of Commerce)

First prize for Annual Report 2005
Winner in the category ‘non stock exchange quoted companies’ in the Dutch Scenter Annual Report Study. The grade our annual report received was a 9.0

Winner ‘Beekhuizen Swimming Pool’ ideas competition
Competition organized by Rheden local authority. Royal Haskoning submitted a design for a modern health resort with facilities such as baths, saunas, a beauty salon and a restaurant in an effort to do full justice to the brief

Best Paper Award
Jaap-Jeroen Flikweert from Coastal & Rivers Division based in Peterborough was recently presented with the prestigious ‘Best Paper’ award at this year’s Defra Flood and Coastal Management Conference in York, England.
Jaap’s paper, entitled ‘Residual Risk Revisited – Flood Incident Management in the Netherlands’ was co-written with Lisette Heuer from Coastal & Rivers Division in Holland.

CIWEM Young Members’ Award
Joanna Eyquem, who is based in our Haywards Heath office, was recently presented with the Young Members’ Award by the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) at the organisation’s annual dinner. Joanna’s paper, entitled ‘Using fluvial geomorphology to inform integrated river basin management’, focused in particular on a case study of the River Axe catchment.

VBKO final study award 2005
On a maritime engineering event in Amersfoort the VBKO awarded students Tony W. Huang and Gerard Verburg the 1st price for the best bachelor degree final study project. The subject of the study was the feasibility of a cruise terminal on Palm Island, Dubai. Tony and Gerard were supervised by Royal Haskoning.

Isle of Wight Society Jo Mitchell Conservation Award
For the Duver Seaview Coast Protection Scheme, Isle of Wight

Maxis wins NRW-incentive prize 2004
The Dutch Counsil of Shoppingcentres has awarded the incentive prize to the shoppingcentre Maxis in Muiden. Royal Haskoning has done the design and advisory work for this project.

Winner ‘ROC Horizon College Hoorn’ ideas competition
Royal Haskoning Architects won the European architects selection for the ROC Horizon College Hoorn (The Netherlands). The building will be put into use in 2007. The plan’s motto is ‘contact, comfort, control’.

Responsible Care Prize 2004
The Association of the Dutch Chemicals Industry (VNCI) presented the Responsible Care Prize for 2004 to Sasol Servo. The company won the prize for the development of a ‘Product Stewardship Management Tool for Chemical Companies in the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Sector’. Sasol Servo developed this system in cooperation with Royal Haskoning and Sachem Europe BV.

Winner ‘Landmark Footbridge Projects’ ideas competition
In Maryport, Cumbria, Haskoning has been appointed to undertake a feasibility study for two pedestrian lifting bridges in the historic harbour. The quality of the submission document was rated as excellent by the Client, thanks to the efforts of Richard Shaw, Dave Bone and Syb van Breda.
In Cambridgeshire, we have been instructed to produce an outline design and planning drawings for a landmark footbridge / cycleway that will form a Gateway to Huntingdon. Huntingdon District Council recommended Royal Haskoning to the Developer, Persimmon Homes, after seeing our entry for a footbridge design competition in Cambridge. This success is due to the efforts of Dave Bone, Syb van Breda and Annette Boot.
