Logistics and distribution
Belfast Harbour Commissioners requested Royal Haskoning, Advisory Group Industrial Installations of Rotterdam, to carry out the feasibility study for a new bulk store at the Stormont Wharf, Belfast.
The storage capacity of the new bulk store is 75,000 tons of derivatives with intake from ocean-going vessels through a system of grab crane, dust controlled hopper, conveyors, weighing scale and outtake by wheel loaders directly into bulk trucks. In addition, in and outtake connections with the existing West Twin bulk store must be taken into account.
Royal Haskoning developed various options for the handling and storage system of the new Stormont bulk store with a description of the handling and storage system, time schedule for implementation and the investment cost estimate.
Upon approval by Belfast Harbour Commissioners, Royal Haskoning prepared the tender documents for the civil, mechanical and electrical works, evaluated the offers assisted in the negotiations and prepared the contract documents. At this moment supervision of construction takes place.
