ISPA (Instrument for Structural Policies for Pre-Accession) granted design and tender preparation project in the field of Solid Waste management.
Within the Marijampole Region, the waste management system needed improvement by setting up a regional approach. The objective is to provide for an environmentally sound, efficient, affordable and cost-effective waste management system, complying with national and international standards and requirements. Seven old municipal landfills will be closed (and rehabilitated) and a new regional landfill is established. The establishment of the new landfill includes linings, structures, internal and external roads, leachate and landfill gas treatment. For separate waste collection five civic amenity sites are foreseen.
