With this assignment Royal Haskoning provided technical assistance for the preparation of 5 project (ISPA) applications in the field of solid waste and procurement support during tendering and contracting of the related component in the procurement plant.
The project comprises: Master planning, Feasibility Study, Environmental Impact Assessment, Detailed Design, Tender documents and preparation of Application Form. Besides this, support was given to the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development as well as the final Beneficiary in each Region during appraisal of the Application. For the implementation of this project as a first step the existing solid waste management situation was assessed and the quality evaluated. Needs of rehabilitation/improvement up to EU standards were presented. This resulted for each region in a new landfill and transfer stations as well as remediation plans for the existing landfills which eventually should be closed. As part of the detailed design process, several surveys were executed like: topographical, geo-technical and hydro-geological.
