River and coastal management

In recent years, Romania has been affected by severe river floods, of which the most recent was during the summer of 2005. In cooperation with Partners for Water and the provincial councils of Overijssel and Gelderland, Royal Haskoning formulated a pilot project for the flood risk assessment and mapping of a small river catchment in Teleorman County in Romania. The main objective of the project is to provide a solution for flooding problems in the pilot area. One large component of the solution was the rehabilitation of a Botoroaga Dam in the catchment. Haskoning prepared a design for these works.
