Royal Haskoning doubles half-year profit
30-07-2010
In the first half of 2010 Royal Haskoning achieved a net profit of €4.0 million compared with €1.9 million in the first half-year of 2009. The improved result is a direct consequence of the cost reductions introduced last year. Turnover at €169 million was 9% lower compared with the first half of 2009. The added value of €136 million was only 5% below the level of the first half of 2009.
In the first half of 2010, the company received new orders worth € 206 million. In the same period in 2009 the figure was € 196 million. The increase in new orders mainly came from the divisions concerned with water and ports.
At the end of June 2010, work in hand stood at 7.7 months, against 6.7 months at the end of 2009. The increased work in hand provides a good foundation for the second half of 2010 in what is still a very uncertain market.

During 2010 solvency has further improved to 51%. Together with a current ratio of 196, this means that Royal Haskoning has an excellent balance sheet, allowing it to operate from a position of financial independence.
