Royal Haskoning delivers sustainable electricity generation in rural Western Uganda
Royal Haskoning is going to provide 350,000 people in poor areas of rural Western Uganda with renewable electrical energy by installing a cluster of 10 mini-hydropower units (7-10 megawatt) and electrical transmission and distribution systems. This means that nationally the percentage of the rural population connected to the grid in Uganda will increase from 6% to 7.5. The absence of electricity is considered by the World Bank as one of the major constraints that keeps people poor. Royal Haskoning to design building services for new National Children's Oncology Centre
The Nationaal Kinderoncologisch Centrum (national children’s oncology centre, NKOC) is being built on the De Uithof in Utrecht. The NKOC will be home to leading edge scientific research into childhood cancer. Royal Haskoning has been selected on account of the sustainable design of its building services. The design team also includes LIAG (architect), Zonneveld ingenieurs (design engineer), Twynstra Gudde (Schedule of Requirements, project management, concept design) and ZRI (who are supporting the project management). The project will be executed entirely on the basis of what is known as the atelier concept. In addition, the Bouw Informatie Model (BIM) method will be applied, in which the building will first be constructed virtually. The NKOC is due to be ready for use in 2015. Read more

Joop van Oosten joins Royal Haskoning's Supervisory Board
Joop van Oosten (age 63) will join the Supervisory Board of Royal Haskoning on 1 January 2012. Mr. Van Oosten was CEO of BAM Groep N.V. He fills the vacancy left by the departure of Pieter Paul van Besouw, whose second term of office is due to expire. Read more

On 8 December, Royal Haskoning celebrated the completion of its activities for the famous Hurricane & Storm Damage Risk Reduction System program. The Dutch Consul in New Orleans, Constance Willems, was also present at the event, which was held with local partner Evans and Graves. She praised the company for deploying Dutch coastal defence expertise in New Orleans. Read more
