Innovation: can't do it alone!
Royal Haskoning's mission is to come up with creative solutions to issues that are important to the sustainable interaction between people and their environment. We devise them in collaboration with others, e.g. clients and knowledge institutions. Only cross-fertilization takes us forward and keeps us at the leading edge of developments.
That is why we seek to work closely together with universities, colleges and schools at secondary level: for the future lies with youth.

Involvements

Water Toolkit (primary schools)
How can we make our children aware of what water means to us? Each primary year group has its own toolbox with experiments and information about water, the use of water and water management.

Jet-Net (Young People and Technology Network) (secondary schools)
Royal Haskoning has signed a covenant to get students more interested in technical and science subjects. Our staff visits classes to tell them about their work and share their experiences. Teachers are briefed on the current developments of the various disciplines and a range of activities are arranged for secondary school students.

Dutch Delta Academy
A joint venture between the universities of Rotterdam, Zeeland and Van Hall Larenstein which brings employees, research institutions and universities together for specific courses in environmental and water engineering. Jan Bout, Chairman of the Board of Management at Royal Haskoning, is a member of the Advisory Board.

Innovation

The Royal Haskoning Delta Competition
A biennial international competition run by Royal Haskoning for students world-wide, who come up with new ideas for delta-related problems in the world.

Think Tank
Each year we organize the Denkfabriek, a think tank with universities and colleges. Under the guidance of our own consultants we organize workshops for students and ask them to come up with innovative creative solutions to (social) issues. The website offers a collaborative platform for pooling ideas on issues of innovation.

Nedeco

Royal Haskoning is the founding father of Nedeco - Netherlands Engineering Consultants. Through this organisation we work together with other engineering consultancies on overseas projects. The organisation's mission has always been to share our knowledge with others overseas. Nowadays Nedeco is especially involved in supporting students who wish to gain experience as part of their education. "Foreign projects" are often highly suitable for this. You learn from other cultures and work in different and changing circumstances, while adding to your experience of your subject area.
