Aquatic concentrations of metabolites
For a large chemical industry we developed a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel that enabled us to model the complex interdependent multi-step breakdown of one of their products into its metabolites. The results obtained with this model were then compared to the results obtained by modeling with MAM-PEC, REMA and EXAMS and with the results of monitoring program.
Developing emission scenarios documents
Our Chemicals Mangement experts experts participated in the EUBEES Working Group for environmental emission scenarios for biocides. They played a major role in the development, harmonization and testing of emission scenario documents (ESD's) for many of the 23 Biocidal Product Types , such as the ESD for PT21 (antifouling products), PT 11 (cooling water), PT 12 (Slimicides), etc. Currently we are involved in the incorporation of these scenarios into the evaluation model EUSES. These projects were carried out on behalf of the European Commission, the OECD and the Dutch RIVM.
For the associated fragrance industry we are developing exposure scenarios that will describe the conditions for safe use of the fragrance ingredients during the compounding of fragrance oils and the formulation of consumer products. This type of exposure scenarios is essential in the registration process under REACH.
