Our experts developed the scenarios for occupational exposure during manufacturing based on site visits. Based on published data on measured concentrations we showed that generic emission scenarios for the use of consumer products (washing powder, shampoo, etc.) overestimate the exposure.
We designed a monitoring program to establish the emission through effluents and sludge in 18 sewage treatment plants in Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece. The results were used to estimate the concentrations in water, sediment and soil.
For the effects assessment toxicity test protocols were adapted to suit the specific characteristics and requirements for these substances.
We selected the test laboratories, monitored the progress of the studies and evaluated the results. Finally the Risk Assessment Reports have been adopted in the TC-NES of the EU Chemicals Bureau with a favourable conclusion.
